Hutian Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located in the Hutian mining district of the Zibo Coalfield, Shandong. It was named by Guan Sicong et al. in 1952.
Lithology and Thickness
Paleosols. It is the lowest formation under the Yuemengou Gr. Lower part consists of lumpy limonite, pyrite or hematite, changing gradually upward into a bauxite layer; Upper part is composed of light-gray to purple-red bauxite shale or bauxite. The thickness is generally 1−10 m, maximum 20 m.

Unconformable contact with the underlying Ordovician stratum

Disconformable contact with the overlying Benxi Fm
Regional extent
Widespread in various Late Carboniferous sedimentation zones in North China
